I haven’t been counting calories for the past couple of days. I weighed myself this morning and I was 170.5, but I’m arbitrarily choosing not to record that one even though I’ve recorded other weights in the past week. Candy is yummy. A bit of Bailey’s is yummy. $9 worth of grapes was yummy, but I ate it all! My gf was awesome and bought some diet-type snacks at the grocery store, like meringue cookies and fat free pudding. We are going to be eating out a lot this week, but I’ll try to get along without consuming too many calories. I’ve also been thinking about what kind of goals - resolutions, if you will - I should set for the new year. 1:02 am § Permalink §

Are you counting calories, counting carbs, counting points, doing Core or a mixture? If you’re not doing WW, what prompted you to leave the program?

I’m counting calories for the most part; trying to follow a low-carb diet isn’t practical for a vegetarian. I had been on WW for a few years, and it did help me lose about 35 pounds, but I went off the program and I gained the weight back. Since then - for about a year now - I’ve been on a firm plateau, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to quit WW. I wasn’t using the online system (I wasn’t signed up for meetings) so it was a waste of money. I could continue counting points on my own, but I’m trying out the calorie-counting for a while. I never did get onto the Core program, mostly because of the rule about “eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re satiated.” I tend to eat when I’m bored or sad, so that rule would have been very hard for me to deal with.
I still think WW is great for those it works for, though. I may even end up going back on it if I’m not losing enough just by counting calories.
