This morning the scale gave me the ERR message twice before finally caving in and spitting out 165.0 twice for me. I find that basically impossible to believe, but it did give the reading twice so I am going with it! I’m posting this from my new Sidekick, by the way. The Wordpress interface doesn’t look great, but it’s good enough to post with. 4:21 pm § Permalink § Comments (10)

I’ve been having a lot of crap this weekend. Yesterday I had a couple of pastries for breakfast, and some chili rice of unknown caloration for dinner. I had little snacks throughout the day too. I’ve started out today feeling unhappy and so I’ll probably end up eating crap today too. I don’t want to slide backwards, dammit. I feel helpless. 9:01 am § Permalink § Comments (7)

I keep forgetting to post in here when I mean to. Yesterday the cafeteria was a zoo when I went down there for lunch, so I went back upstairs to the snack bar and cobbled together a meal. I had a Nutri-Grain bar, a banana, and raw veggies with ranch dip (unlabeled, but I assume it’s full-fat). It actually worked out pretty well as a meal. I did something similar today, but I didn’t even bother going downstairs. I had a Slim-Fast Optima shake with me (I’d picked it up at 7-11 this morning) and so I had that for lunch, and bought the same veggie package ($2!) so I’d feel like I had eaten lunch rather than just drinking it. The shake was French Vanilla flavor - that’s all the store had - and I didn’t like it very much. I could probably tolerate it once in a while if it were part of a Slim-Fast variety pack, but I don’t think I would buy it singly off the shelf again. There’s also a “Strawberries & Cream” flavor that sounds too horrible to even try once! 5:21 pm § Permalink § Comments (13)

This morning I weighed in at 166! That’s a 3.5 pound drop from last week, and a 1.5 pound drop from a few days ago. (I know I’m not supposed to be weighing in more often than once a week, but I’m usually curious at other times during the week so I just hop on the scale to check.) I was going to say something else, but I can’t remember what it was. Oh well! 6:36 pm § Permalink § Comments (7)

I have the feeling I ate too much this weekend. I went grocery shopping on the way home from work Friday night and I bought a box of Annie’s Ranch Bunnies crackers. Serving size: about 50 crackers. Servings per container: about 7. Per serving: 130cal, 6g fat, 2g fiber, 3g protein. They’re gone now. My wife helped me with some of it, but mostly I finished them off. Sigh. I also got a container of Moose Tracks ice cream, made by Weight Watchers. It’s so good. I know I ate too much again though. My wife had more than I did, but I probably had at least 1.5 cups. I need to stop eating it straight out of the carton. How will I ever break myself of this? 6:07 pm § Permalink § Comments (6)

Holy cow. I had no idea that a quarter cup of Thousand Island dressing would have so much calories and fat. And here I thought I was being good by getting a salad - it wasn’t even a good salad! I should have known that dressing tasted too good to be true…and I just now, while writing this, remembered that I should have done the trick where you just dip your fork tines in the dressing rather than pour it on your salad. Sigh. 3:22 pm § Permalink § Comments (14)

I had a big breakfast today. At home I had instant cream of wheat made with milk - normally I make it with water, but one day I felt like making it with milk and it was quite good - with a handful of blueberries. Then on the way to work I stopped at 7-11 for coffee, and I put two mini International Delight french vanilla creamers into it - normally I just go for Coffeemate. I also picked up a Special K bar, which actually isn’t too bad for me. And when I got to work someone had brought in three dozen doughnuts from Dunkin Donuts, so I looked up the nutritional info on the web and picked the one with the fewest calories.
So, this is all very clearly not what I should have had for breakfast. In fact, that is way too much for breakfast. I guess my willpower was feeling a little shot this morning, or maybe I just told myself that I’d be counting calories and as long as I did that properly, everything would work out fine. Tonight we’re going over to have the birthday cake that was baked for me last night - Triple Chocolate Fudge mix (chosen by my sister-in-law) and homemade chocolate buttercream frosting (chosen by me). That’s going to be a huge chunk of calories right there. 12:35 pm § Permalink § Comments (14)

I felt like having a dieter’s shake for breakfast this morning, so I didn’t eat at home. When I got to work, I discovered the usual Kirkland discount shake that costs $1 was out of stock, but there were Adkins Advantage shakes there. The nutritional information seemed reasonably similar, although I think the Adkins shake has more fat…but when I brought it to the cashier she said it was $2.75! I said “no thanks” and walked out, but I have to eat something. I have a 9:00 meeting so it’ll probably have to wait until that’s done, but I’m not starving yet so I should be okay. I had a couple of small caramels and tiny chocolate pieces yesterday. I don’t feel too bad about it - they were all small, and besides - it was my birthday! But I asked for my cake to be chocolate buttercream, so that’s going to be somewhat bad. I’m expecting it will be a small cake and get shared with family - I’m not going to eat the whole thing! 9:13 am § Permalink § Comments (9)

I weighed in at 171 this morning, which is disappointing but not unexpected. I know I was slack with my eating over the weekend (but the sugar free chewy chocolate chip cookies from Entenmann’s were so good!) and I definitely have not been drinking enough water. So hopefully I’ll pick things up again and lose the water weight quickly. 9:23 am § Permalink § Comments (5)

I found another weight loss blog that’s worth reading - Stacy’s Weight Loss. Found her through BlogExplosion. Haven’t been hungry yet today. I’m plugging away at a massive data entry project. Haven’t been thirsty either. I did get a grande skim no-whip pumpkin spice latte on the way to work in addition to the cereal I had before leaving home. It was actually pretty good, and hopefully the fact that it wasn’t overly sweet means it wasn’t too bad for me? 2:06 pm § Permalink § Comments (113)
